Every moment presents an opportunity for a new choice.
An improvisational mindset allows us to make that choice with agility, creativity and connectivity. It helps break down the barriers between people in any unplanned, communicative moment. And it allows us to adapt, respond and collaborate fluidly within unexpected circumstances that arise around us. These are skills not to be taken lightly in times of change, uncertainty and growth. And they can be learned.
Improvisation is applicable to any setting which involves human interaction. We are all improvisers. That is, none of us wakes up with a script each day. Improvisation operates on the principle that since life isn’t scripted, it pays to work our muscles to prepare for the unknown and think on our feet. Improvisation trains us to thrive in an uncertain world where the best-laid plans can be upended. Based on principles of presence, cooperation, acceptance, agility, support, generosity, spontaneity, creativity and flexibility, improvisational thinking and practice can change your world. The improviser first notices, then listens, then connects to the world around them. These skills are critical for any productive change for which we strive.
As a trained improviser, I know the power of this methodology. Organizations all over the world are using this pro-social method of engagement to transform their learning and internal cultures. The experience is not about performance; it's about using methodologies for all or part of a custom program to cultivate collaboration, experiential learning, creativity, connection, connection, insight and change.
And I'll share it in working with you as it fits. I can use improvisational skills, principles or methods to teach any subject matter. Participants may not necessarily know they’re engaging in improvisation; they're just experiencing dynamic and interactive learning. And often, having a great time. We can go deep around meaningful topics and bring laughter and joy when it arises. It’s even more powerful when facilitated by a trained psychologist with an active funny bone. Would I lie to you?
I'd love to hear about your project
